I'm usually done with winter about mid-February. I've over the snow, the sweaters, and photographic opportunities and I'm focused on baking hot summer days where the ground is too hot to walk on in bare feet. Thankfully the days are getting longer, if not warmer, and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. C'mon heat alerts.

Deep Freeze
Summer is my favourite time of year at the Waterworks although winter holds a certain appeal (assuming you're wearing five layers of clothing).

The Cure For Winter Blues
Trust me, by Thursday you'll be ready for some warm summer flash-backs and tales of adventure on the Great Lakes. If that's not enough to tempt you, throw in some wine, cheese, music and warm company. Hope to see you at the Urban Voyageur Show Opening, this Thursday at 7 PM at the Voulez-Vous Café. Bring your paddle.

Agile Programming
One of the joys we have in being human is in exercising our freedom to choose and to take each case as it comes to us. We are not robots who are forced into behaviors by their programming. We see things; we think about things; and we choose our course of action or beliefs appropriately. And as long as that remains true of us, we will live every day of our lives on one slippery slope or another. There is no reason to fear this.

Rack & Ruin
One of Toronto's unlikely treasures is the Leslie Street Spit also known as Tommy Thompson Park. This park is only open on weekends and holidays and doubles as a dumping ground for clean rubble during the week. Over the years, a large spit of land has been built out onto the lake and developed its own ecology. It's a fascinating place to spend a few hours hiking, cycling or jogging. Check it out.

What Lies Beneath
Many miles away
Something crawls to the surface
Of a dark Scottish lake...
I went for a hike out on the Leslie Street Spit on Boxing Day. While the morning started out cool, it turned into a decent day with the wind (and surf) calming down the further we walked out onto the Spit. I was impressed that we made it to the lighthouse and it was the perfect way to combat the excesses of the season in the company of great friends and talented photographers. Thanks to Allan, Jeff and Louise for an inspiring day.

Truck Stop II
I had to stop and take a picture of this old snow-dusted truck on my way out of Pikto today.

"Let It Snow" Show
UPDATE: I'm having an Opening Night on Thursday, December 16th from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Drop by to view the collection, meet, drink and be merry.
I have an unexpected show at Voulez-Vous Café this month running from today to December 31st. Unlike past years, I've decided to embrace winter this time around (or at least until January) thus the seasonal theme. Drop by for some warm conversation, hot coffee and weather appropriate photography. As always, thanks to Julie and Sean for being such great hosts. Cheers.
