Inside Pumping Station "T"

Inside the Pumphouse

I had an amazing opportunity to tour the inside of Pumping Station "T" (and much more) thanks to a generous offer by Plant Technician, David Dickson who spotted my That Building set on flickr.  In this shot, I'm standing near the underground base of the pumphouse looking way up at the roof (I'm guessing it would be 6-7 stories from top to bottom).  David was a great tour guide and provided much fascinating history and stats about the facility.  It's an impressive plant that is obviously run with pride while striving to be a good neighbour.  I'll be posting more photos here as I sort through them.  Many thanks to David for his time, patience and for making my day.

Newspaper Wars

Newspaper boxes as seen through a rainy windshield on a wet and windy afternoon.

An oldie but a consistently high traffic photo from my flickr stream.

Snow Angel

I took this photo on a snowy Wednesday waiting for a streetcar home at Queen and Yonge. There were many streetcars heading west (like this one) but very few going east and when one did arrive, it was too full to get on. I barely fit on the second one but at least I was warm (and moving).

The drive saw me standing in the cold taking this shot and gave me a quick tune on his horn as he passed by below.

Dogs & Fog

The ice storm and extreme cold temperatures are almost worth it when followed by a brief spell of fog. Between errands and dog walking this past Saturday, I managed to get out for a short walk in the fog and rain to take advantage of the atmosphere before the next polar vortex arrives.

Kodachrome Kids

While I didn't take this photo, I'm in it along with my older brother and sister. My Dad (William A. Mitchener) was pretty handy with a camera and took many shots of us growing up. Most of these were developed on Kodachrome slides and have managed to retain their colour and vibrance after all these years. This is one of my favourite.

In a Suburban World

Fall, a decent season following the best season of all, followed by 7 or 8 months of winter hell (but it's all good).
